| LINES FROM THE LIBRARY Happy holidays! Are you wondering what to read with your children during the holiday vacation? How about reading this month's book club selections? Our 4th and 5th graders will meet again at the beginning of January to discuss Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. This science fiction story takes place in a future where the Population Police enforce the law limiting a family to only two children. What does this mean for Luke, the third child in a family? Read it and find out! Our 6th-8th graders have also chosen to read a science fiction novel for next month's “Bagels and Books” get together. We'll be reading Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. In Uglies, all 16 year olds undergo an operation that turns them into gorgeous beauties. Tally, the main character, finds out what happens when you decide NOT to submit to the forced operation. Another great read! |
